It’s off to the speedway this morning…….
Maybe some cool pictures of that this afternoon, but as a teaser, here’s an Albatross from Kaikoura in New Zealand.
This was part of our road trip with Kea, Sao and I heading from Northland, New Zealand to Bluff and back…..
What a trip!!

These large birds spend a lot of their time arguing and fighting. Competition for food is fierce.
Size rules and they try to make themselves look as large as possible.

Here’s a close up of an Albatross sitting in the water off the coast of Kaikoura.
Amazing stories these birds must have (If they had not a pea brain) given the journeys they have taken.

This was a day to remember on the road trip and we all were left in wonder.

I have a few more of these over the coming days…

I trust you won’t become bored.

Perth has fireworks tonight!!!! I can foresee some images for tomorrow!!

The Guide said that the classic shot was a banking Albatross, with the Kaikoura Hills in the background…… This is close I think.

Flightless Bird, very cheeky and curious.
Introduced species are a plight on these natives.

All the Dams here are really full and the water is emptying at an amazing rate. Not as bad as Queenslands issues……

Kaikoura 2011, early in the new year.

We had ring side seats to birds that flew 1,400 kms here looking for a meal on the shelf where the lion seals dine out messily.

16 August 2010 – Rest in Peace Marge Martin

Mum passed away this morning peacefully in her sleep.
She dreaded going any other way.

I was at this temple a few days ago, while we are in Thailand waiting for Sao’s NZL VISA to be approved and issued.

In Thailand Buddhism, when they go to the temple they like to remember those that are here and now, and to remember those who have passed.

If found it quite soothing here, walking around, thinking of Mum and Dad. Dad would have loved it here, Mum would have hated it.

Yin and Yang.

RIP – Richard Thomas Martin

Dad died on 25 June 2009, just short of his 82nd Birthday.

He suffered badly in his final months and must surely now be in peace. Below he checks out some of our photography

As I update the site, it’s Mum’s anniversary of her death today. Time flies so fast……
