Passionate “high-s0″ (High Society) Thais can endear themselves on history by creating some of the most amazing its of art / Majesty / wonder and awe. The original builder of this place, “The Erawan Museum” has also built amazing edifices in Pattaya (The Sanctuary of Truth) and down the road in a little gem called “Ancient Siam”.

The view here is from the top of the stairs (there are two main staircases that wrap around, left to right up to the main mezzanine that then leads up into the main structure of the three headed elephant.), looking out across the ceiling. The four main pillars, all etched with amazing tapestries fail to dominate the ceiling, the stairs and the myriad of colours and shapes that attack one’s senses.

So sad, this was a favourite spot for us. But that’s Thailand, it often happens….. But something else will pop up one day..

I like to use “selective saturation” techniques to accentuate the Tiger in focus, and to give the action some spice. These young males really liked to run and fight and run again….. We really miss this place!!

She dreaded going any other way.

I was at this temple a few days ago, while we are in Thailand waiting for Sao’s NZL VISA to be approved and issued.

In Thailand Buddhism, when they go to the temple they like to remember those that are here and now, and to remember those who have passed.

If found it quite soothing here, walking around, thinking of Mum and Dad. Dad would have loved it here, Mum would have hated it.

Yin and Yang.

Rest in Peace Mum
Love always
Robin & Sao

I was on my bike about to head home when they hit and about an inch of hail landed at my feet. Luckily I was under cover, but for five minutes of timing. I am glad I had a little extra to do before leaving.
The storm abated a little and I headed home. Upon arrival the real storms came and gave us a good lashing…..
The Thunder caused butterflies in more than one stomach (not mine, I quite like it and look for photo opportunities)

I guess that’s summer over….

Suan Phuttamonton (Phuttamonton Park) is a very large park just outside Bangkok in Nakorn Pathom province, a few kilometres west of Bangkok’s southern bus terminal.

Much of the park consists of open woodland with mown grass underneath the canopy, with pools, flower beds and gardens, although there are a few areas where the ground layer is uncut and insect diversity is fairly high, attracting a number of birds. Apart from birdwatching, this is a good place to have a picnic in a quiet corner of the park and it would be most enjoyable to cycle around. (Thanks http://www.thaibirding.com for the reference)

Today there was a festival there. I will come back with more details, as it’s all a bit confusing.. (for me)

Welcome back to Thailand!

As usual in Thailand the experience is likely to change a lot depending on who’s running it at any particular point in time. We’ve done this a few times, by ourselves, and with guests that frequently come in on Business or for vacation time. This site forms part of a longer “Pattaya Run” which would include the defunct “Sai Thip” Butterfly Park, Khao Keow Open Zoo (a contradiction in terms really), Sri Racha Tiger Zoo (The site of most of our better Tiger shots) and perhaps a round of Golf at Leam Cheabang or a night in Pattaya Proper for some kick boxing and a few ales on the famous “Walking Street”

Yesterday we were punted off our Kenya Airways Flight after some thugs were removed for bad behaviour and the planes computer was on the blink.

Today they told us it wasn’t fixed. They wanted us to go back to the Airport Hotel until they “Sorted it out”. We refused and requested politely that they endorse us on another airline to get us there on time.

We’re now in the Emirates Lounge awaiting the new flight – 24 Hours later!!!!

I am going to be posting a picture a day here on 1ds.com via satellite. Please unsubscribe if this spams you too much.

It certainly looks like we are in there with them, but this, like most things photographically, is an illusion.

We are based in Thailand, so we have access to many areas that have wild and captive Tigers. Wild Tigers are virtually impossible to Photograph in Thailand and we have not been overly interested in trying to state them out in the jungle. Sao is probably a tasty snack, where I am probably a full roast dinner. There are no “safari” type organisations here for that sort of thing, and I would think that the wild Tigers are few and far between in reality.

Colin and I discussed what we might like to do and decided to head down to the Gulls and Terns of the Bang Poo Jetty in Bang Poo.

To get to the jetty one must drive down Sukhumvitt Road all the way until it ends well past the Erawan Shrine (there’s a place that will feature in photos soon) and down past Muang Boran (Which is a mini version of all the architectural wonders of Thailand) which coincidentally is owned and operated by the same family as the Erawan Shrine and the Santuary of Truth in Pattaya.

A lot of people ask me what Camera to buy. Some point out shots of running and cavorting tigers. I usually caution them on the side of conservatism as these shots are not easily taken without the correct equipment, alongside some extreme patience, getting hot wet and on more than a few occasions, quite frustrated.

My Weapons of choice are:
Canon 1D Mark IV (updated), Canon 300/2.8 IS and on occasion a tripod, but usually not.
